Academic Growth:

The College as well as the affiliated university needed to reconfigure graduate programs to better prepare aspiring professors for teaching. Two or three decades back doctorate studies were considered to be the follow up the post graduate study programmes. But today Ph.Ds. are the essential requirement to find an employment in the higher educational institutions, industry and government.
So, the college has evolved changes learning and pedagogy, as well as the design and effectiveness of alternative methods of instruction. Meanwhile, the advent of new technologies paved way to novel methods of teaching which requires special training and orientation. As a result of using sophisticated technologies in teaching it helped to identify the difficulties faced by students and to bridge the gap between students and teachers by researching new methods in learning, the erstwhile system of graduate education had severe short coming. In order to by-pass these frailties, the current teaching methods were applied. The college started with entrance programme under university of Madras in 1968 and gradually included more academic programmes as and when update the educational policies of both state and central governments. Recently the University of Calicut has approved the department of Arabic as research centre in Arabic language and literature.
